This is the funnel ant, getting its name from the characteristic funnel shaped nests they create! They can be found in many habitats, from rainforest to sandy scrubland, as long as the soil is soft. They are a small species, but grow to really big numbers! Being claustral, you can raise them with nothing but water! Yes, the queens actually feed their own larvae protein from their own reserves, located at the thorax where the wings used to be (since they don’t need them anymore). They are very easy to keep, and is recommended for beginner keepers.
