These small ants are relatively common along the eastern coast of Australia, inhabiting moist sclerophyll woodlands under rocks, logs and leaf litter. They are polygenous, meaning colonies can have multiple fertile queens in them. These ants are relativley easy to keep, and require a claustral setup; they can be fed directly to their tube.
This species is still recommended to experienced keepers due to their size.
