This giant species is the largest bull ant on the Planet! Growing up to 35mm, and large colonies these massive ants are really something. Unlike some other Myrmecia species, Myrmecia brevinoda is nocturnal, meaning queens and workers forage at night. Despite being so large, brevinoda seem to be more timid compared to its smaller counterparts (like nigrocincta), which will actively chase and attack any threat, whereas Myrmecia brevinoda prefers to run.
