When you think of bull ants, this is probably the species you picture! This is Myrmecia gulosa, one of Australia’s most iconic ants! These bull ants are huge, boasting long serrated mandibles and a bright red body. They inhabit sandy/dry habitats on the eastern side of Australia, making large, mounded nests. They are a slower growing species because of their size, but are very fun to keep!
